Air- and watertight membrane

SWS Vario Extra is a full-surface adhesive, moisture-regulating membrane with a 2 or 3-part protective film and 1 opposite self-adhesive strip, also with protective film, for the air and watertight sealing of connections around windows, doors and panels. SWS Vario Extra can be installed both on the inside and the outside. Due to its special properties, the Ss value adapts to the seasonal differences in temperature and humidity that occur in the connection joints. This allows a weather-independent transport of moisture from inside to outside or from outside to inside. As a result, the connection joint remains dry all year round and condensation damage is avoided.

Applications

Air- and watertight connection between all kinds of construction joints and window connection joints like the inside inner leaf (reveal area) or on the outside inner leaf (prior to application of the facade insulation), under the window (or door) sill and the in- and outside massive walls.

Instructions

Depending on the situation, the installation of SWS Vario Extra can be carried out before or after the installation of the façade elemement (eg window frame). There are 2 methods to apply the SWS Vario Extra. It's possible to work with one (longer) single strip or with 4 separate strips. In both cases, extra material must be provided for the corners (approx. 5 to 10 cm per corner). Apply the foil, after unrolling, with the self-adhesive strip on the text side to the side of the façade element OR remove the split liner from the small adhesive strip on the non-text side and apply the foil on the front of the façade element. Always ensure that the text is readable towards the view sight. Remove evenly the remaining split liner. Apply the foil, not too tight, on the structure to absorb any movements between the various building elements but avoid folds. The adhesive layer of the foil is pressure-sensitive, the more firmly one presses, the better the adhesion. If possible, use a pressure roller.
Adhesive residues can be removed with Soudal Adhesive Remover-CT or Soudal Surface Cleaner.
