Bonding rubber

Bonding of rubber

Soudal has a broad range of contact adhesives suitable for all kinds of applications. A common example is repairing the rubber sole of a shoe. A pain, but very easy to achieve a long-lasting repair. Read the instructions below.

Instructions

1. Clean the surfaces

Remove all dirt, dust and grease residue on the two surfaces that you would like to bond.

2. Apply the adhesive

Apply Contact Adhesive uniformly on both surfaces. You can do this straight from the tube for small objects. If you want to bond larger surfaces, use a fine-toothed spreader or brush. Leave it to rest for approximately 10 minutes before joining the components; this is to allows the solvents to evaporate from the adhesive prior to adhesion.

3. Bond it

Press the surfaces firmly together. The force with which you press the pieces against each other determines the final strength of the bond.
